Course content

In this field course topics related to glacial and periglacial geomorphology will be discussed together with advanced topics within geocryology (terrestrial glacier and permafrost). The place of field course can vary, but focus will be given to southern Norway.

Knowledge:
The students will

• understand geomorphological processes in cold environments
• understand the methods and results of recent publications
• understand the most recent developments in cryospheric research

Skills:
The students will

• be able to read, understand and discuss research by others
• be able to present and discuss research methods and results
• be able plan and carry out field measurements

Attitudes:

• The course aims at fostering and developing scientific curiosity around the course theme and a critical reflection of representativeness, accuracy, reliability and importance of the data and results
