As part of our ongoing efforts to increase the amount of useful information on our website, as well as to help you learn more about polar research as you begin your careers, we are going to be putting together information on all the various locations where polar research is conducted. This includes established field camps, ships used in research efforts, major research laboratories and communities where you work with people to learn more about life and traditions in the North.
We are looking for a few things to help with this effort:
- Photos of various locations that show the area and facilities well and that would be helpful for people planning to go to the location for the first time, as well as to those looking for new locations to do their work. If you have photos to share, please name the files as Location_YourName_Year. Files should be less than 1 MB and in a jpeg or tif format. If you can zip a number of photos together in one folder and send them that is the easiest. By sending photos you are giving APECS permission to use these on our website and other advertising materials - giving you photo credit of course.
- Short descriptions of locations where you have worked, including unique features, facilities available, and perhaps some of the research topics that are covered at those locations. A 1-2 paragraph description and perhaps a link to where more information can be found would be great.
- If any of you are interested in helping to coordinate this effort or helping as part of a working group, please contact . |
