Field Schools Network
The APECS Field Schools Network aims to create a community of connected field schools concerned with the polar regions, the cryosphere, and climate change. All education levels are encouraged; most APECS members are undergraduate to postdoc, but schools designed for secondary students or early faculty are encouraged to participate as well. See below for a simple list of field school details, or check out the menu on the left to find out about APECS Field Schools, recurring field schools, and one-off field programs. All schools are tagged with 'Secondary,' 'Undergrad,' 'Postgrad,' and 'Postdoc' to show their intended audience - just search for those most applicable to you. Or, search 'grad' to get both Undergrad and Postgrad or 'post' to get both Postgrad and Postdoc.
Each school has commenting enabled to allow the APECS community to share their field school experiences - feel free to include links to photos and videos, too! More importantly, login to the site to see a list of past participants that you can contact!

DESCRIPTION
climate impact research, invites young scientists to join leading
climate researchers in a scenic Swiss Alpine setting for keynote
lectures, workshops and poster sessions on the occasion of the 9th
International NCCR Climate Summer School 2010.
The topics covered at the NCCR Climate Summer School 2010 will include:
* Emission scenarios and the future of the global climate
* Economics of climate change: an overview
* Assessing costs and benefits of climate change
* Adaptation and Mitigation: instruments, strategic aspects and
implementation
* Climate policy and international negotiations
The summer school invites young researchers from all fields of climate
research. The courses cover a broad spectrum of climate and climate
impact research issues and foster cross-disciplinary links. Each topic
includes keynote plenary lectures and workshops with in-depth discussion
in smaller groups. All summer school participants present a poster of
their research and there will be ample opportunity for discussion.

The summer school is open to young researchers (PhD students and
Post-Docs) worldwide. Participation is highly competitive and will be
limited to a maximum of 70. The registration fee (1'200 CHF) includes
half board accommodation, excursion and teaching material. A small
number of grants will be available for students from developing countries.
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: 19 DECEMBER 2009
Successful applicants will be notified in February 2010.
