Polar Graduate Programmes

APECS_UArctic_IAIAre you interested in learning more about the Arctic, Antarctic or the cryosphere in general? Thinking of going to graduate school or gaining extra credibility through a certificate programme or another degree?  Here is a resource to help you get started in finding a programme that is right for you.

This searchable database includes graduate programmes that have a focus or specialty in any field of Arctic, Antarctic, Alpine or other areas within the cryosphere – ranging from social sciences and law to ecology, geology, physics and more. The purpose is to provide prospective students with information on those programmes, such as disciplinary focus areas, website links, typical program duration, application deadlines, costs and, where available, financial support.

We encourage universities and individuals to enter programme information to the database here, as well as posting current openings for graduate research and teaching assistantships on the APECS jobs page..

APECS, the University of the Arctic, and the International Antarctic Institute are working collaboratively to compile this inventory of programmes worldwide. If you have questions about the database or suggestions for improvement, please contact Rich Boone (rdboone@alaska.edu), University of Alaska Fairbanks.

If you are looking for current opennings for PhD and Masters assistantships, please check the APECS jobs page. And if you're looking for funding to pay for one of these programmes, check out the APECS Funding Resources Database.
