The organizing committee will be selecting the participants that want to stay into the FURG university during the II APECS-Brazil Workshop. To be considered for free accommodation during the event, the participant must be registered at the Workshop (making the registration payment and sending the registration form and student/ECS certificate by e-mail; inscricao.apecsbrasil@gmail.com) and mark the option "I would like to be considered to accommodation awards" in the registration form. If your registration is already confirmed, please, send an e-mail directly to us (inscricao.apecsbrasil@gmail.com) and inform us that you would like to be considered for accommodation awards. Priorities will be giving to participants with submitted oral or poster presentation. More information about accommodation awards will be informed opportunely. Once again the APECS Speed Dating Networking evening during the Arctic Frontiers 2012 conference was a huge success. This year the event was held at the Tromsø Gallery of Contemporary Art. The gallery provided a great venue for our early career researchers, young scientist forum and young professionals to be able to mix and mingle with our interdisciplinary group of established reserachers and policy makers. The chatting and sharing was so great that it was difficult to gather everyone's attention in order to move on to the next event.  A special thanks to the Tromsø Gallery of Contemporary Art for hosting us, to Artic Frontiers for helping to put on the event, and to all those who came out for another wonderful evening of speed networking, especially to our mamy mentors.

 

The 10th Ny-Alesund Seminar will be held 25-26 October 2011 at the Lillestrom Centre of Expertise in Kjeller, Norway. The meeting is organized by NILU,

The Norwegian Institute for Air Research, in advance of the NySMAC meeting on 27 October 2011.

Meeting description

The seminar will bring together scientists who have Ny-Ålesund (78°55'N,11°56' E) as a base for their research. The aim of the two day meeting is to exchange experience and share advancements from research and monitoring activities in the Arctic. The meeting wants to encourage collaborations between researchers related to the following flagship programs:

Kongsfjord System Flagship

Atmospheric Research Flagship

Terrestrial System Flagship

Glaciology Flagship

Following the Ny Ålesund Seminar on the 27th of October we will hold the CICCI (Coordinated Investigation of Climate-Cryosphere Interactions) Data and Planning Workshop. The purpose of the workshop is to bring together participants from the 2011 campaigns to share results and discuss potential collaborations. Further, we will discuss forward plans for 2012, and thus invite others who have already planned activities in 2012 that may contribute to the CICCI program.
