The 40th Annual International Arctic Workshop will be held March 10-12, 2010 at the Winter Park Mountain Lodge in Winter Park Colorado. The meeting is open to all interested in the Arctic, and will consist of a series of talks and poster sessions covering all aspects of high-latitude environments, past and present. Previous Arctic Workshops have included presentations on Arctic and Antarctic climate, archeology, environmental geochemistry, geomorphology, hydrology, glaciology, soils, ecology, oceanography, Quaternary history and more.
Student participation is subsidized by the U.S. National Science Foundation. See more information below.
The 40th Arctic Workshop will include a keynote presentation by Dr. Randy Olson, filmmaker and author of the 2009 book “Don’t be Such a Scientist: Talking Substance in an Age of Style,” and a special session on communicating science to the public.
Ski Day at Winter Park Saturday, March 13 – purchase your ski lift ticket when you register.
Financial assistance is available for a limited number of graduate students from any country giving a talk or presenting a poster thanks to support from the National Science Foundation (Arctic Natural Sciences Program).
Graduate student presenters will be provided with the following:

FREE Hotel, shared occupancy at Winter Park Mountain Lodge for up to 4 nights.
Check in: Tuesday March 9th
Check out: Saturday March 13th
If you want to stay Saturday night or longer (to ski, etc), you will need to pay for the extra nights. But the lodge will give you the discount rate if you book before the deadline.
FREE Meals, Dinner provided on Wednesday & Thursday, breakfast and lunch on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Sorry, there is no support available for travel expenses (flights, shuttles, etc).
