APECS Research Activities

14% of our globe falls within the Polar Regions, and much of the Earth is within the cryosphere. There are lots of great projects going on right now to help us enhance our understanding of these regions. APECS aims to provide a forum for our members to share their research, find out the latest developments in our discipline and in others, and to encourage interdisciplinry research.

If you're interested in communicating cutting-edge polar research to the APECS community, check out our Research Activities Committee!

Polar Research Bibliography

In an effort to help create a useful resource with literature dealing with polar regions and related topics, APECS has started creating a list using CiteULike. CiteULike is an easy way to create your search for literature articles that are of interest to your research, tag them with keywords, and download to your reference manager program. We are hoping this project will grow and help people find papers of interest to them, especially from journals that you typically don't read or on topics that are new to you. To participate in this project and add your bibliography to our list, visit the CiteULike website, join the APECS group and follow the instructions - its quick and easy and will really help to create a great resource.

APECS Announces Plans for a Virtual Poster Session

poster_thumbnailOne of the best ways for people to learn about your research is by sharing it with other people – both within the research community and the general public. We often do this by giving oral presentations or presenting posters at conferences, in classrooms, or other venues. Poster presentations offer an excellent way to communicate your research with other researchers and also with the members of the general public, to develop new ideas, and also to meet new collaborators – not to mention the great way to re-energize ourselves when we are feeling a bit unsure and looking for some feedback. Generally poster sessions at conferences are far too short and we do not get enough time to discuss our research with enough people and get their feedback. Our aim is to keep those discussions going by interacting with more people about our research and also about our ideas so that we can improve our science and our understanding of the Polar Regions.

The APECS Virtual Poster Session is thanks in part to the generous sponsorship of the Nordic Council of Ministers.
