With 14% of the Earth being Polar, there is a lot of places to do research. APECS is working on putting together a database of the various research sites that our members have. You can use this listing to try to find new collaborators that can help you collect data that you may need or to find a new place to conduct the research you do.

The APECS' working group 'Research Sites' is creating a database of all the field sites that APECS members are working in. We hope this will help you find APECS members that are working in your area, have been to where you are planning to go, and who could help you collect additional data to help your research.
This will be the portal where everyone can enter information about their sites, and search for field sites of other members. If you have photos that we could use for our project and in our newsletter, please send them to PB Hadury.
In future APECS newsletters we will present one of the research sites where APECS members are working - so help us show off your work :)
Be sure to encourage your friends to enter their information too!

The APECS working group ‘Research Sites’ intends to set up a database including information about different research field sites and locations around the globe where APECS members are currently working.
This database will help young polar researchers who are planning to undertake research activities in the remote polar regions. In addition to the typical information (e.g. climate, topography, major logistics) which are readily available through other organizations, we would like to provide further details to help researchers plan their expedition well in advance.
This includes information about things like: - the available internet connections - the available telephone connections - the best type of clothing to bring - accommodation (Hostels, private, …are there showers, do you need sleeping bags, do you need towels…etc) - the possibilities to buy food and other essentials (e.g. batteries) - expected costs - fun stuff to do and recreational facilities available in the area
Every APECS member is encouraged to fill out the simple questionnaire and to email any nice pictures to PB Hadury.
We will help to share all this great information with APECS members by featuring a different research site in every APECS newsletter, as well as through the APECS website.
We are also working to develop a virtual map, including all the research sites the additional information as well as the photos.
