- Postdoctoral Researcher
The University of New Hampshire has an opening for a 2-Yr PostDoc position in UAV-based remote sensing of snow.
Seeking a post-doctoral scientist to address gaps in the scientific understanding of shallow snowpacks, melt, and runoff with consideration of snow and vegetation interactions using remote sensing via unpiloted aerial vehicle (UAV) and satellite platforms. The position allows the right candidate considerable opportunities for growth, the flexibility to define and pursue new research, and the ability to engage with the broader snow community. The successful candidate will work with a team of engineers, snow scientists, and forest ecologists within the ESRC/EOS at the University of New Hampshire https://rb.gy/xmptkk.
Requirements: The project is well suited to applicants with a strong background in hydrology, remote sensing and excellent communication skills. Knowledge in remote sensing and experimentation with a focus on snow is expected, along with skills in statistical data analysis and scientific programming (Python, R, Matlab, or similar). Demonstrated ability to publish papers in leading scientific journals is critical. The applicant should hold a PhD, however a PhD in ABD status will be considered on an exceptional basis. The applicant does not need to have considerable expertise in UAVs and airborne sensors, though experience in related fields and instrumentation would be considered an asset.
The position has an expected to start late summer 2021, though a flexible start date may be considered. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
