- Postdoctoral Researcher
We are searching for a postdoctoral researcher to join us in the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College to work on the NASA-funded project "Exploring the dynamic response of West Antarctica to Ocean Variability”. This project aims to investigate the evolution of marine terminating glaciers in the Amundsen Sea using ice and ocean models and is in collaboration with Professor Yoshihiro Nakayama (University of Hokkaido, Japan).
The ideal candidate will build upon their background in glaciology, oceanography, earth science, or engineering to use and develop ice flow and ocean models. We aim to identify the factors that most impacted the flow of glaciers in the Amundsen Sea sector over the past decades, enhance our understanding of the combination of factors that can result in ice flow instability, and improve scenarios of glaciers evolution in the Amundsen Sea Sectors over the coming century.
In our research group at Dartmouth and in this grant collaboration, we specifically aim to foster a broader participation of underrepresented researchers in the geophysical sciences. Our goal is to build a community that is supportive and inclusive, with individualized mentoring for each researcher to account for the unique challenges they face.
