  an opportunity for 20 students from UArctic member institutions located in
  Arctic States to participate in the 5th Korea Arctic Academy in the Republ
 ic of Korea - a 10 day study program in July at KMI together with students 
 from Korean universities.\nUArctic students will be joined by 10 selected s
 tudents from Korean universities. Participants will need to be available fo
 r the 10-day Program and consider their travel time to Korea.\nThe Program 
 will include lectures on Arctic issues (4 to 5 days) given by international
  and Korean experts, and field trips (3 to 4 days) to Arctic related organi
 zations, research institutions, and industrial sites in Korea.\nA certifica
 te of completion will be co-issued by UArctic and KMI to participants who h
 ave successfully completed the program. \nUArctic members from Arctic State
 s (US, Canada, Russia, Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark/Greenla
 nd/Faroe Islands) are called upon to nominate 2 students per member institu
 tion to participate in this program. Member institutions should take into c
 onsideration when making the nomination that indigenous students will be pr
 ioritized in the overall selection\nPlease submit a CV (should include emai

 ligibility criteria apply:\n-20 Bachelor/Master/ PhD students from UArctic 
 member institutions in Arctic States are selected for the program. Students
  with an indigenous background will be given preference for the program dur
 ing the selection process. The program is open to students of all academic 
 backgrounds.\n-The student should be registered at an UArctic member instit
 ution in an Arctic State for an academic degree. \n-UArctic/KMI can also se
 lect other Arctic States students to achieve an appropriate composition of 
 the group\n-The student should have finished their second year of Bachelor 
 study\n-The student is motivated to actively participate and to enhance und
 erstanding of the Arctic and Korea\n-The student must have sufficient knowl
 edge of English, both oral and written\nThe organizer (will be announced so
 on, tentatively KMI) in Korea will cover:\n- Round-trip flight tickets betw
 een Korea (Busan) and the nearest airport to the student \n- Designated acc
 ommodation in Korea during the official period of the Academy (3-13 July, 1
 0 nights) \n- Additional lodging caused inevitably by flight schedule in ac
 cordance to KMI’s financial guideline \n- Transportation within Korea neede
 d for participation in the program activities \n- meals included in officia
 l program\n*KMI will not be providing any other types of support other than
  the ones mentioned above.\nStudents are responsible for the following expe
 nses:\n- Personal travel insurance covering medical expenses, flight accide
 nts etc.\n- Costs incurring from taking land transportation within one’s ow
 n country\n- Costs for activities that is not part of the official program\
 n- Costs for additional stay in Korea before or after the official program 
 period, 3(check-in)-13(check-out), July\n- Any additional costs resulting f
 rom altering the flight schedule provided by organizer to include other des
 tinations other than the student’s home country \n- Other personal expenses
  such as costs for issuing passport and documentations needed for participa
 ting in the Academy\nDecisions procedure:\nThe final selection of students 
 will be made by the UArctic and KMI by the end of April, 2019. The selected
  students will be informed immediately afterwards. The students are expecte
 d to confirm their participation within one week afterwards.\nSelected stud
 ents should submit a 10-slide power point presentation to the KMI Secretari
 at by the end of May, 2019. The KMI Secretariat will approach each selected
  student with detailed information after the selection process has been com
 pleted.\nIf the selected student does not reply to or submit the requested 
 material and information by the KMI Secretariat based on the notified guide
 lines, KMI holds the right to cancel his/her participation to the Academy a
 nd give that opportunity to the next applicant for the purpose of the progr
