DESCRIPTION:After two pandemic-related cancelations, the Sixth International Summer Sch
ool in Glaciology organized by the University of Alaska, Fairbanks (UAF)/Os
lo University, will (hopefully) be held in McCarthy, central Alaska, from 7
to 17 June 2022 (just before the IGS Symposium on Maritime Glaciers, to be
held in Juneau, Alaska, 19 - 24 June; https://www.igsoc.org/symposia/2022/
juneau2022/ (https://www.igsoc.org/symposia/2022/juneau2022/)). The summer
school will provide a comprehensive overview of the physics of glaciers and
current research frontiers in glaciology with focus on quantitative glacio
logy and remote sensing. The course is open to 28 graduate students from ar
ound the world targeting primarily early stage PhD students who perform gla
cier-related research. It will be taught by faculty of UAF’s glaciology gro
up and several invited guest instructors from outside Alaska. Application d
