SUMMARY:6th WGNE Workshop on Systematic Errors in Weather and Climate Models
LOCATION:ECMWF\, Reading\, UK
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce the call for abstracts for the 6th WGNE Workshop
on Systematic Errors in Weather and Climate Models, ECMWF, Reading, 31 Oct
 ober to 4 November 2022.\n \nhttps://events.ecmwf.int/event/241\nAbstracts
are due 31 May 2022.\nThe workshop brings together a wide range of experts
on simulating the Earth System including atmosphere, ocean, waves, land-sur
face, atmospheric composition, cryosphere, and associated disciplines to ad
vance the understanding of systematic simulation errors at all timescales.
A particular emphasis is given to identifying errors in complex coupled sys
tems and to understand their root causes. Progress in diagnosing and addres
sing systematic errors using a wide range of tools ranging from classical m
ethods to advanced technologies such as data assimilation and machine learn
ing / AI will be documented. The workshop will encourage an active discussi
on on relative merits of active development of physical models and parametr
isations to address systematic errors versus bias correction methods. Pleas
e see the website for additional details on the topics of interest and form
at.\nEarly career researchers from selected countries will be able to enter
a competition for best abstracts for oral presentations. The World Meteoro
logical Organization (WMO) is pleased to offer funding for travel to ECMWF
(UK) to the winners of the competition. Please see the <a href="https://eve
 nts.ecmwf.int/event/241/page/122-abstract-competition" target="_blank" rel=
