DESCRIPTION:The Eastern Snow Conference (June 14 - 16) is rapidly approaching! The meet
ing will take place at the Byrd Polar & Climate Research Center, at the
Ohio State University. The official deadline for abstract submission has p
assed (April 8). We received well over fifty submissions, and are looking f
orward to a great program. However, if you have a last minute abstract, we
can still accept a few more. See the website (http://www.easternsnow.org/an

l for papers and other meeting details. There will be an icebreaker the eve
ning of Tuesday the 14th. The scientific program will begin Wednesday morni
ng, and conclude on Thursday the 16th by noon. The conference banquet will
take place Wednesday evening; we are privileged to have Prof Lonnie Thompso
n as our banquet speaker. During lunch on Thursday, there will be tours of
the Byrd center and ice cores. After lunch on Thursday, we will organize a
tour of several excellent Columbus micro-breweries for any who are interes
ted. As a reminder, the scientific program is open for theoretical, experim
ental, and operational studies of snow, ice, and winter hydrology. This yea
r’s general theme is: Airborne and spaceborne remote sensing of snow and ic
e. There will be a presentation and discussion on the proposed NASA SnowEx
campaign (http://neptune.gsfc.nasa.gov/hsb/index.php?section=322 (http://n
eptune.gsfc.nasa.gov/hsb/index.php?section=322)). We are looking forward to
a great meeting, and hope to see you in Columbus in June!
