DESCRIPTION:Organizers announce that the 5th Polar Prediction Workshop will convene 7-9
  May 2018 at the Agora Hydro-Québec in Montreal, Québec, Canada.\nAs in pre
 vious years, the 2018 workshop will focus on:\n\n - polar predictability fr
 om subseasonnal to interannual timescales\n - sea ice prediction\n - operat
 ional and research efforts\n - end user needs and the capacity of the scien
 tific community to address themIn addition, reviews for the Sea Ice Outlook
  project and other initiatives related to polar predictions will be discuss
 ed.\nWe also propose a new activity for 2018: An important outcome of the W
 orkshop will be a consensus forecast statement synthesizing predictions of 
 (i) September mean Arctic sea ice extent, and (ii) sea ice conditions durin
 g the Arctic shipping season for key regions plus the Northwest Passage and
  Northern Sea Route shipping corridors. Participants are invited to contrib
 ute to any or all of these forecasts using a form that will be circulated t
 o registrants and posted online, and are encouraged to highlight these pred
 ictions in their presentations.\nOperational forecasters and forecast users
  are warmly invited to participate.\nTo register and/or submit an abstract,
