DESCRIPTION:"25 years of Progress in Radar Altimetry" Symposium will take place from Mo
 nday 24 to Saturday 29 September 2018, in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island,
  Azores Archipelago (Portugal).\nFollowing on from the "15 Years of Progres
 s in Radar Altimetry" Symposium in 2006 and the "20 Years of Progress in Ra
 dar Altimetry" Symposium in 2012, in Venice-Lido, Italy, both deemed very s
 uccessful landmarks by the participants and the readership of the Proceedin
 gs, we are now at the twenty-five year anniversary of the launch of ERS-1 a
 nd TOPEX/POSEIDON. To mark this occasion the European Space Agency, in coll
 aboration with the French Space Agency, CNES, is organising an exceptional 
 Symposium on "25 Years of Progress in Radar Altimetry". This event will als
 o be sponsored by other partner agencies and organisations supporting the d
 evelopment of altimetry. Along with this symposium, several related events 
 will take place on the same week, including the annual meeting of the Ocean
  Surface Topography Science Team (OSTST) and the International Doris Servic
 e (IDS) workshop. These events will be held over 6 days, from 24 to 29 of S
 eptember 2018, in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island, Azores Archipelago (Por
 tugal).\nPlease consider your participation at this exceptional event and r
 eserve the week from 24 to 29 September 2018 in your agenda.\nFor the Sympo
 sium, you are kindly invited to submit your abstract(s) not later than 1 Ma

 th the Themes &amp; Objectives and the type of presentation to request (Ora
 l Keynote, Oral Review, Oral or Poster) and to submit your (max 500 words) 
 abstract(s). \n\n Abstracts will be selected by the Scientific Committee on
  the basis of their scientific content and relevance to the themes of the s
 ymposium. Authors will be notified of the decision and the type of presenta
