SUMMARY:Inspiring Girls Workshop: your chance to develop a field-based science program for girls
LOCATION:Switzerland
DESCRIPTION:Girls on Ice Switzerland (http://www.inspiringgirls.org/switzerland) is a t
uition free program for teenage girls 15-17 years old and is one of the exp
editions offered by Inspiring Girls Expeditions (http://www.inspiringgirls.
org). We run wilderness science expeditions different from typical technica
l mountaineering courses or science "summer camps" in that we truly integra
te the wilderness challenge with the intellectual challenge. Inspiring Girl
s Expeditions are taught by teams of professional scientists, artists, and
mountain guides.\nGirls on Ice Switzerland is hosting an instructor worksho
p for future expedition leaders. We also want to inspire new partner progra
ms to expand Inspiring Girls Expeditions to other languages, countries and
regions, so we can offer this experience to more girls. Erin Pettit, the fo
under and director of Inspiring Girls Expeditions, will be in Switzerland t
o lead this workshop.\n \nWe are looking for female scientists who are inte
rested in teaching existing Inspiring Girls Expeditions, or who are interes
ted in taking leadership roles in developing new programs based on the succ
essful Inspiring Girls philosophy. For example:\n- Girls on Ice: in your la
nguage/country\n- Girls on Rivers / in Rain Forest / on Volcanoes / in Snow
/ ... : linking kayaking, mountaineering, hiking, skiing with geomorpholog
y, ecology, chemistry, physics, geology or snow science.\n \nAlso - if you
are an artist or guide who is interested in teaming up with a scientist to
develop a program, we can provide help with connecting potential leadership
  teams.\n \nPlease visit http://www.inspiringgirls.org/instructor-workshop-
 switzerland (http://www.inspiringgirls.org/instructor-workshop-switzerland)
for more information on the workshop. \n \nThe workshop takes place in Swi
tzerland from 11th to 14th of June, 2018. Workshop and accommodation costs
are covered by Girls on Ice Switzerland. Travel costs to and from the cours
e location are the responsibility of the participants. If the number of par
ticipants is larger than we expected, we might charge a small fee for accom
modations.\n \nIf you are interested in participating please send your full
application via this form (https://goo.gl/forms/w6xWS2svWUeXbxBz1) until 3
0th of March, 2018. Let us know why you want to participate and how you cou
ld contribute to Inspiring Girls Expeditions. The application should contai
n your interest in Inspiring Girls Expeditions or new project ideas (Wilder
ness and Intellectual/Scientific context, Educational philosophy) and your
experience in the field of teaching and wilderness.\n \nWe will review appl
ications as they come in and we will stop accepting applications when all s
 pots are filled.\n
