 annual West Antarctic Ice Sheet Workshop will be held this September at Sto
 ny Point Center in Stony Point, NY, followed seamlessly by the Thwaites Gla
 cier Program meeting. The WAIS Workshop begins Sunday late afternoon, Septe
 mber 16 and ends with a 1-1/2 day section on Thwaites and Pine Island Glaci
 er and the planned Thwaites Glacier Program. On Wednesday afternoon, the di
 scussion will turn to the Thwaites Program preliminary research and coordin
 ation, concluding Thursday with discussion on logistics for the future prop
 osed field seasons. (The Thwaites awards have not yet been announced.) Plea
 se consider the relevance of these later sections to your own work when pla
 nning your stay.</p><p><strong>WAIS registration is now open!</strong><br /
 >We are pleased to announce that registration for the 2018 WAIS Workshop is
  now open. We appreciate your patience as we worked out details with the ve
 nue and others regarding this year's meeting. You'll find the link to regis

 e web site for details about this year's meeting, which overlaps and is fol
 lowed by the International Thwaites Glacier Collaboration meeting.</p><p>No
 te that abstract submission is also open. Deadline is July 30. Follow instr
 uctions on the web site to submit your abstract.</p><p><strong>Students: we
  offer travel support for students and early career researchers. Deadline t
 o apply for funding is August 8, but please apply early!</strong> See guide
 lines here. We define "early career" as within 5 years of receiving a PhD, 
 or less than 5 years in total if there was a break due to family obligation
