 . The WAIS Workshop begins Sunday late afternoon, September 16 and ends wit
 h a 1-1/2 day section on Thwaites and Pine Island Glacier and the planned T
 hwaites Glacier Program. On Wednesday afternoon, the discussion will turn t
 o the Thwaites Program preliminary research and coordination, concluding Th
 ursday with discussion on logistics for the future proposed field seasons. 
 (The Thwaites awards have not yet been announced.) Please consider the rele
 vance of these later sections to your own work when planning your stay.\nWA
 IS registration is now open!\nWe are pleased to announce that registration 
 for the 2018 WAIS Workshop is now open. We appreciate your patience as we w
 orked out details with the venue and others regarding this year's meeting. 
 You'll find the link to register at the the Workshop web site, https://www.
 waisworkshop.org/workshop-2018. Please read the web site for details about 
 this year's meeting, which overlaps and is followed by the International Th
 waites Glacier Collaboration meeting.\nNote that abstract submission is als
 o open. Deadline is July 30. Follow instructions on the web site to submit 
 your abstract.\nStudents: we offer travel support for students and early ca
 reer researchers. Deadline to apply for funding is August 8, but please app
 ly early! See guidelines here. We define "early career" as within 5 years o
 f receiving a PhD, or less than 5 years in total if there was a break due t
