DESCRIPTION:<p>The Arctic Data Center invites applications for their 2018 Data Science 
 Training for Arctic Research. This workshop will convene 13-17 August 2018 
 in Santa Barbara, California.</p><p>This five-day workshop will provide Arc
 tic researchers with an overview of best practices in data management, trai
 ning in data science tools, and concrete steps and methods for documenting 
 and uploading data and metadata to the National Science Foundation's (NSF) 
 Arctic Data Center.</p><p><strong>Workshop topics will include:</strong></p
 ><ul><li>Arctic Data Center and NSF Standards and Policies;</li><li>Data ma
 nagement plans;</li><li>Effective data management for data preservation, in
 cluding storing and preparing data in open source formats, stability, longe
 vity, interoperability, and metadata;</li><li>Publishing data at the Arctic
  Data Center, including web-based submission and automating submission for 
 large data sets;</li><li>Data and metadata quality; and</li><li>Provenance 
 for data and software.</li></ul><p>Space for this workshop is limited. Earl
 y career and established researchers from the Arctic research community are
  encouraged to apply.</p><p>Applicants must complete the online application
  form. The application form requests basic demographics in addition to a tw
 o-page curriculum vitae and information about research background and data 
 science training and skills. Preference will be given to applicants who per
 form NSF-funded Arctic research.</p><p><strong>Application deadline: 5:00 p
