SUMMARY:SCAR webinar: seeking your input on international collaboration in Antarctic and Southern Ocean Research

DESCRIPTION:The Scientific Committee for Antarctic Research (SCAR) is an international,
  interdisciplinary body that brings together scientists from around the wor
 ld for information sharing and research collaboration [details here: https:
 //www.scar.org/about-us/scar-overview/ (https://www.scar.org/about-us/scar-
 overview/)]. A key mechanism of SCAR’s work is the suite of “Scientific Res
 earch Programs” that are established for fixed periods of time (typically 6
 -8 years) to catalyze and organize collaborations around particular topics 
 deemed of critical importance by the scientific community. [See the current
  list of SRPs here: https://www.scar.org/science/srp/  (https://www.scar.or
 g/science/srp/)]. The current suite of Programs are nearing the end of thei
 r designated lifetimes, and a next generation of Programs are now being exp
 lored. These will be actively discussed at the 2018 SCAR meetings (https://
 www.polar2018.org/ (https://www.polar2018.org/) ), and final choices will b
 e voted on at the 2020 SCAR meetings. Right now is a key window for helping
  to shape and steer these choices, and your input to this process is most w

 ome leading U.S. representatives to SCAR: Terry Wilson, Deneb Karentz, Davi
 d Bromwich] to discuss this program development opportunity and the ways th
