SUMMARY:APECS-EPB Webinar: The EU Arctic Cluster
LOCATION:Online
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with the European Polar Board (EPB) (http://www.europeanpola
rboard.org/), APECS organises a series of webinars that aim to connect pola
r research and policy. The webinars are aimed at polar researchers, policym
akers and other professionals at all career stages.\nThe fourth EPB-APECS w
ebinar will be held 13:00-14:00 (UTC) on Tuesday 5th June 2018. \nKristina
Bär, EU-PolarNet (http://www.eu-polarnet.eu/) Communications Officer, will
introduce the EU Arctic Cluster (http://www.eu-polarnet.eu/eu-arctic-cluste
r/) and how it is bringing together EU-funded polar research projects to jo
intly maximise their impact.\nThe EU Arctic Cluster is a network of Horizon
2020 and a Framework Programme 7 funded Arctic projects, with APECS being
involved in four of them. Currently it comprises eight projects: APPLICATE
 (https://applicate.eu/), ARICE (https://www.arice.eu/), Blue-Action (http:/
 /blueaction.eu/index.php?id=3498), EU-PolarNet (http://www.eu-polarnet.eu/)
 , ICE-ARC (https://www.ice-arc.eu/), INTAROS (http://www.intaros.eu/), INTE
 RACT (https://eu-interact.org/) and NUNATARYUK (https://www.nunataryuk.org/
). The Cluster thus merges a broad spectrum of research and coordination ac
tivities - ranging from the most up-to-date findings on permafrost and sea
ice, from enhancing observation to improving predictions, and from networki
ng research stations to coordinating access to icebreakers.\nThe EU Arctic
Cluster's objective is to bring the insights from various areas of expertis
e together in order to provide one entry point to EU funded Arctic research
. Jointly the Cluster aims to provide policy-relevant information and suppo
rt the EU in implementing its integrated policy for the Arctic.\nTo join th
