APECS Portugal workshops cover topics targeting early c areer researchers, providing free opportunities for professional career dev elopment. This year, the IX Workshop APECS Portugal will focus on Science C ommunication. From scientific conferences, to talks in schools, social medi a and communicating with policy makers, learning how to communicate well is increasingly relevant to the career development of young researchers. A di verse public requires the researcher to adapt the language to share scienti fic knowledge in a clear way for every audience. During the workshop, we wi ll have national and international speakers from different institutions sha ring their experience communicating with different audiences, including com munication of large European scientific projects, communication of scientif ic journals, and communication with Indigenous communities. Following the t alks, we will have a hands-on activity under the same topic, which will sti mulate the active participation of early career researchers. The workshop w ill conclude with a debate on science communication featuring all the invit ed speakers, and open for public participation. Additionally, the attendant s will have opportunities to interact and network with the speakers, as wel l as other participants and APECS mentors during coffee and lunch breaks.
Since the APECS Portugal workshops take place as part of the Portugues e Conference on Polar Sciences, and along with the science communication to pic, this year we will offer prices for best student oral and poster presen tation. This will further contribute to engage the development of early car eer researchers in science communication.
