 nge and Extreme Events in the Himalayan region&nbsp;captures a three-day pr
 ogram of&nbsp;presentations,&nbsp;panel discussions&nbsp;and&nbsp;interacti
 ve dialogues.&nbsp;</p><p>This workshop aims at understanding the effects o
 f climate change, melting of glaciers, increased frequency of extreme event
 s, atmospheric pollution, pollution due to crop residue burning on Himalaya
 n region and applications of remote sensing. The uncertainties in environme
 nt have led to many extreme events for instance, glacial lake outbursts, ea
 rthquakes and rock/landslides, which can be mapped and monitored regularly 
 using satellites.&nbsp;</p><p>This workshop aims to provide a platform for 
 Scientists, Academicians, Researchers and Scholars from various national an
 d international institutes to gather and share knowledge for the overall go
 al of working towards capacity building in the field of earth sciences.</p>
