LOCATION:Mandi\, India
DESCRIPTION:The International workshop on Climate Change and Extreme Events in the Hima
layan region captures a three-day program of presentations, panel discussio
ns and interactive dialogues. \nThis workshop aims at understanding the eff
ects of climate change, melting of glaciers, increased frequency of extreme
events, atmospheric pollution, pollution due to crop residue burning on Hi
malayan region and applications of remote sensing. The uncertainties in env
ironment have led to many extreme events for instance, glacial lake outburs
ts, earthquakes and rock/landslides, which can be mapped and monitored regu
