UArctic students will be joined by 10 selected students from Korean univers ities. Participants will need to be available for the 10-day Program and co nsider their travel time to Korea.
The Program will include lectures on Arctic issues (4 to 5 days) given by international and Korean experts, a nd field trips (3 to 4 days) to Arctic related organizations, research inst itutions, and industrial sites in Korea.
A certificate of completion will be co-issued by UArctic and KMI to participants who have successfully completed the program.
UArctic members from Arctic States (US, Canada, Russia, Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark/Greenland/Faro e Islands) are called upon to nominate 2 students per member institution to participate in this program. Member institutions should take into consider ation when making the nomination that indigenous students will be prioritiz ed in the overall selection

The following el
igibility criteria apply:
-20 Bachelor/Master/ PhD students f
rom UArctic member institutions in Arctic States are selected for the progr
am. Students with an indigenous background will be given preference for the
program during the selection process. The program is open to students of a
ll academic backgrounds.
-The student should be registered at an UArct
ic member institution in an Arctic State for an academic degree.
-UArctic/KMI can also select other Arctic States students to achieve an ap
propriate composition of the group
-The student should have finished t
heir second year of Bachelor study
-The student is motivated to active
ly participate and to enhance understanding of the Arctic and Korea
-T
he student must have sufficient knowledge of English, both oral and written
The organizer (will be announced soon, tentatively KMI) in K
orea will cover:
- Round-trip flight tickets between Korea (B
usan) and the nearest airport to the student
- Designated accomm
odation in Korea during the official period of the Academy (3-13 July, 10 n
ights)
- Additional lodging caused inevitably by flight schedule
in accordance to KMI’s financial guideline
- Transportation wit
hin Korea needed for participation in the program activities
- m
eals included in official program
*KMI will not be providing any other
types of support other than the ones mentioned above.
Studen
ts are responsible for the following expenses:
- Personal tra
vel insurance covering medical expenses, flight accidents etc.
- Costs
incurring from taking land transportation within one’s own country

Costs for activities that is not part of the official program
- Costs
for additional stay in Korea before or after the official program period, 3
(check-in)-13(check-out), July
- Any additional costs resulting from a
ltering the flight schedule provided by organizer to include other destinat
ions other than the student’s home country
- Other personal expe
nses such as costs for issuing passport and documentations needed for parti
cipating in the Academy

e final selection of students will be made by the UArctic and KMI by the en
d of April, 2019. The selected students will be informed immediately afterw
ards. The students are expected to confirm their participation within one w
eek afterwards.
Selected students should submit a 10-slide power poin t presentation to the KMI Secretariat by the end of May, 2019. The KMI Secr etariat will approach each selected student with detailed information after the selection process has been completed.
If the selected student do es not reply to or submit the requested material and information by the KMI Secretariat based on the notified guidelines, KMI holds the right to cance l his/her participation to the Academy and give that opportunity to the nex t applicant for the purpose of the program.
