DESCRIPTION:The goals of the Synoptic Arctic Survey (SAS) International Planning and Co
ordination Workshop include planning coordinated field sampling; internatio
nal data sharing; education, including graduate student participation, post
field-season data synthesis, public outreach, and involvement of Indigenou
s communities; and identifying additional measurements (e.g., atmospheric m
easurements) or approaches (e.g., modeling) that would contribute to accomp
lishing the goals of the SAS. The SAS is a ground-up effort and wide partic
ipation, including all professional levels of scientists, graduate students
, and science managers across multiple disciplines, and Indigenous communit
y members, in the planning is welcome.\nThe participation of early career s
cientists is particularly encouraged. Limited support is available for earl
y career scientists, both from within the U.S. and abroad. For this worksho
p, early career scientists are defined as post-doctoral investigators and u
ntenured, tenure-track equivalent individuals within five years of their in
