Summary:
In his PhD, Michael Zemp inve
stigated glacier change in the European Alps after 1850. Today, he is the D
irector of the World Glacier Monitoring Service at the Department of Geogra
phy, University of Zurich. In his talk, he will introduce glacier monitorin
g-methods and provide an overview on the fluctuations of Alpine glaciers fr
om the “Little Ice Age” to the end of the 21st century. Michael will also p
ut the Alpine glacier changes into the context of global glacier changes an
d related sea-level rise contributions.
