DESCRIPTION:Building on the success of the 2016 Franco-Nordic seminar in Tromsø, the In
 stitut français de Norvège and  the Research Council of Norway have decided
  to  further explore topic of "The Changing Arctic".\nThe event is entitled
  Contribution of traditional ecological knowledge and modern technologies i
 n a Changing Arctic. The Arctic region is especially exposed to climate cha
 nge, undergoing fast-paced transformations. Its natural resources attract a
 ll kinds of industries, from fisheries to oil drilling, while local communi
 ties are going through important socio-economic changes. These rapid modifi
 cations have led to significant degradations of the local biodiversity, whi
 ch in turn affect different sectors of the economy, like reindeer herding o
 r fishing. This seminar aims to tackle local population’s adaptation to the
 se evolutions in the Arctic’s industry and biodiversity, in a climate chang
 e context. How can modern technology, social and biological science work co
 llaboratively with local and indigenous ecological knowledge? We will focus
  on the contribution of traditional ecological knowledge and modern technol
 ogies, as well as the complex interactions between them.\nThe seminar will 
 last a day and a half, with a full day of presentations and debates, follow
 ed by half a day of collaborative work in groups. Please find more the prog
