;“Arctic Connections: A trust-building Arctic cooperation on Energy
, Security and Blue Economy” (October 1) brings together Arct
ic Council States and Observers to discuss pressing issues relating to sust
ainable development through Arctic infrastructure and communication, nation
al interests and energy opportunities. The blue economy will also be part o
f the Conference, as a “blue thinking” approach that looks at eco-sustainab
ility and renewable resources as an ocean of possibilities for the benefit
of social and economic growth. The aim of the conference is to create syner
gies between the human population and environmental reactions, with a speci
fic focus on the Arctic region. In addition to scientific cooperation, the
Observer States, like Italy, can play a key role in raising awareness beyon
d the Arctic Circle and drawing attention to the importance Arctic climate
change, and how it can affect areas outside of the Arctic. Climate change c
an be faced only through a sustainable development approach that includes p
ractical aspects such as energy, security and blue economy. The symposium i
