SUMMARY:Arctic Awareness Week
LOCATION:Rome\, Italy
DESCRIPTION:The Arctic Awareness Week consists of the international symposium “Arctic C
onnections: A trust-building Arctic cooperation on Energy, Security and Blu
e Economy” (October 1) and the youth event "ZeroHackathon: Oceans and Polar
Connections" (October 2-4).\nThe international symposium “Arctic Connectio
ns: A trust-building Arctic cooperation on Energy, Security and Blue Econom
y” (October 1) brings together Arctic Council States and Observers to discu
ss pressing issues relating to sustainable development through Arctic infra
structure and communication, national interests and energy opportunities. T
he blue economy will also be part of the Conference, as a “blue thinking” a
pproach that looks at eco-sustainability and renewable resources as an ocea
n of possibilities for the benefit of social and economic growth. The aim o
f the conference is to create synergies between the human population and en
vironmental reactions, with a specific focus on the Arctic region. In addit
ion to scientific cooperation, the Observer States, like Italy, can play a
key role in raising awareness beyond the Arctic Circle and drawing attentio
n to the importance Arctic climate change, and how it can affect areas outs
ide of the Arctic. Climate change can be faced only through a sustainable d
evelopment approach that includes practical aspects such as energy, securit
y and blue economy. The symposium is jointly organized by Italian Society f
 or International Organization (https://www.uarctic.org/member-profiles/non-
 arctic/36472/italian-society-for-international-organization) SIOI and the R
oyal Norwegian Embassy in Italy, in collaboration with the <a href="https:/

s" (October 2-4) is an event aimed at youth participation. Youth are invite
d to develop innovative, high-impact ideas and projects to promote internat
ional cooperation, raising awareness on the most pressing issues related to
