SUMMARY:Joint Early Career Researcher Workshop
LOCATION:San Francisco\, CA\, USA
DESCRIPTION:Joint Early Career Researcher Workshop on “Water Cycle in a 1.5°C warmer wo
rld: interdisciplinary approaches”\nYESS-APECS-YHS, supported by WCRP and A
GU & ‘under the auspices of the WCRP Climate Science Week‘ December 7,
2019 @ AGU Fall Meeting, Afternoon (Tentative time: 1-5 PM)\nThe joint earl
y career researchers (ECR) workshop “Water Cycle in a 1.5°C warmer world: i
nterdisciplinary approaches’’ aims to bring together students and early car
eer researchers to discuss 1) a joint perspective on the water cycle and go
vernance under climate change, from the fundamental processes to societal i
mpacts, 2) to identify how the science of the upcoming generation of resear
chers can be integrated into the current WCRP Grand Challenges and the new
WCRP Strategy, and 3) to explore how the various early career researcher ne
tworks can work in a more integrative manner, benefit from each other, and
improve their communication channels.\nSpecial emphasis will be placed on p
roposing an ECR roadmap to address the future of water-related research in
the context of climate change in an interdisciplinary manner. The workshop
will serve to identify research topics where ECRs can make valuable contrib
utions while furthering their career paths in Earth system science and prom
oting inter- and cross-disciplinary approaches.\nThis workshop is jointly o
rganized by the Young Earth System Scientists community (YESS), the Young H
ydrologic Society (YHS) and the Association of Polar Early Career Scientist
s (APECS); and is open to all networks of young scientists that have resear
ch interests relevant to the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP). The w
orkshop is supported by WCRP and AGU. \nTo apply for the workshop, please c
