DESCRIPTION:APECS-ARICE Webinar: „From icebreakers into classrooms – opportunities for
 educators and scientists“\n5 May 2020, 14-15:30 GMT\nRegister here:  (https

 eb.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_g2QWWhAVSy6is1CLU7zJyw (https://us02web.zoom
 .us/webinar/register/WN_g2QWWhAVSy6is1CLU7zJyw)\n \nIn September 2019, the
German icebreaker Polarstern and the Russian research vessel Akademik Fedor
ov set sail into the Central Arctic sea ice. With the aim to collect data a
round the coupled Arctic climate system Polarstern will drift through the A
rctic for an entire year as part of the MOSAiC project (https://mosaic-expe
dition.org/). MOSAiC education and outreach activities aim to create visibi
lity of field research and awareness for globally important topics of Arcti
c change. Training of early career researchers was facilitated with a field
camp for graduate students - the MOSAiC School (outreach/mosaic-school-out
reach/mosaic-school-2019.html). Further, educator and teachers collected ma
terials and data which is now shared in classrooms and in online learning t
ools. During this webinar you will learn about the wealth of learning resou
rces created through participation in the MOSAiC Expedition. Ask questions
of young researchers, educators and teachers on how to use or implement exp
eriments, exercises and personal experiences in classrooms and what you can
take away from an massive open online course. \n \nSpeakers are Mauro Herm
 ann (MOSAiC Ambassador (outreach/mosaic-school-outreach/mosaic-ambassadors-
projects.html), ETH Zurich), Anne Gold (CIRES, CU Boulder), Rainer Lehmann
(Polar Educators Germany), Falk Ebert (Herder Gymnasium) and Friederike Kru
eger (Integrierte Gesamtschule Bothfeld). Moderation: Josefine Lenz (AWI &a
 mp; APECS)\n
