353 Rodolfo Werner Celebrating 30 Years of the Madrid ProtocolOctober 4 marks the 30th Anniversary of Antarctic environmental protection under the Environment Protocol. To celebrate this anniversary, the Antarctic and Southern Ocean Coalition (ASOC)invites younger audiences (18-30 years old) to record a short video, serious or fun, on their vision for Antarctica 30 years from now. We encourage you to tell us why Antarctica is important to you and the world and why Antarctica inspires you, or your view of how to protect Antarctica's future.

Make a request or convey a message to the countries that govern Antarctica. Please share your honest responses and remember to keep it fun. It can be as simple as, “I love penguins” or “I want global leaders to work together to protect Antarctica for the benefit of us all.” No message is too simple. We want leaders of the countries that govern Antarctica to know what their citizens think. We will select videos to share with Antarctic decision-makers and on social media.

ASOC’s vision for Antarctica is to ensure a healthy Antarctica for future generations through new conservation policies that preserve Antarctica’s unique biodiversity and build resilience to climate change. We invite you to join us in sharing that vision and your own unique vision with Antarctic decision-makers.
