The Silly Society is searching for humorous poems written by people who live and work in Antarctica.

We’re creating an international anthology of funny poetry for children and currently have contributors from multiple countries and continents, but no one from Antarctica yet. We’d love to change that.

If you’re spending time on the ice and have even the slightest bit of talent for rhyme, wit, wordplay, or absurdity, we’d love to see your work.  After all, if you can live and work in Antarctica, writing a poem should be the easy part.

Researchers, station staff, educators, engineers, pilots, mechanics, cooks, and anyone else stationed in Antarctica are welcome to submit.  Your name and poem could appear alongside some of the biggest names in children's poetry.

Selected poems will appear in The Silly Society Presents: A Parade of Preposterous Poetry, an upcoming anthology for young readers. Contributors are not paid but retain copyright, and copies of the book will be donated to children’s hospitals.

Deadline: July 16, 2026
