This year’s Arctic Yearbook focuses on the theme of Arctic Development: In Theory and In Practice. The six thematic sections include:

Research, Education & Arctic Development
Governance & Regulation of Arctic Energy Installations
Russian Arctic Development & the Environment
The Polar Silk Road & Arctic Maritime Development 
In addition, for the first time we have published a guest edited Special Section, on China & the Arctic, available at https://arcticyearbook.com/arctic-yearbook/2018/china-the-arctic.
 
Altogether, AY2018 is a collection of 33 Scholarly Articles, paired with 7 Briefing Notes to provide succinct explanations of Arctic phenomena and issues of contemporary significance; as well as a Commentary by Arctic Yearbook Editorial Board Chair Lawson Brigham – his seventh straight, one for each Arctic Yearbook to date! The preface this year was written by Tero Verauste of the Arctic Economic Council.
