Travel grant opportunity (pending final NSF approval) from Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) for XIII International Symposium on Antarctic Earth Sciences (ISAES 2019) taking place in Incheon, Republic of Korea from 22-26 July 2019.

The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) International Symposium on Antarctic Earth Sciences (ISAES) is held every four years and will be in the Republic of Korea from 22-26 July 2019 (https://www.isaes2019.org:12090/home/). The SCAR XIII ISAES will bring together scientists from around the world with interests in Antarctic science. The Symposium is an excellent opportunity to present, view and discuss the most recent and important results of research on Antarctic earth sciences and related disciplines.

Travel Grant Opportunity: 
Applications for partial travel support (e.g., airfare, ground transportation, accommodation, meeting registration) are sought from students, post-doctoral researchers and other scientists at US institutions (funding cannot be provided to anyone at a non-US institution). Preference will be given to early career investigators (students and those within 5 years of completing PhD). Individuals from underrepresented groups in the sciences (e.g., women, persons with disabilities, blacks, Hispanics, American Indians, Alaska Natives) are encouraged to apply. Funding will be provided by the National Science Foundation Office of Polar Programs (pending final approval).

Eligibility: 

  1. You must be enrolled as a student or employed at a US institution. 
  2. You must present a talk or poster at the as the lead author at the XIII SCAR ISAES. 
  3. Funds from the award may not be used to provide travel or related expenses to an individual whose comparable expenses are being defrayed by his/her employer or by some third party, including through another Federal grant.

All reimbursed air travel must be economy fare purchased through a US-flag carrier. Travel advances are not possible.
