The Austral Winter Institute is focused on the general theme of “Approaches and Tools for Numerical Modeling of High Latitude Ecosystems” and will take place over three weeks, 22 July to 9 August 2019, at University Austral of Chile in Valdivia.

The Institute of Marine and Limnological Sciences and the Research Center Dynamics of High Latitude Marine Ecosystems - IDEAL of University Austral of Chile and the Research Center for the Oceanography of the Southeastern Pacific - COPAS Sur Austral of the University of Concepción, Chile are organizers of the Austral Winter Institute.

Each week is devoted to a course that provides training on specific topics related to the general theme:

Week 1 - End to end food web models (22 - 26 July)

Week 2 - Understanding connectivity, sustainability and ecology (29 July – 2 August)

Week 3 - Biogeochemical modeling with data assimilation (5 – 9 August)
