Various and numerous activities were organized and achieved by the Romanian Polar Research Institute (RPRI) and the Romanian Antarctic Foundation in the project "Polar Research and Protection - a Priority" to raise awareness of general public and decision makers of the impact of climate changes on the polar regions. Three international polar symposia during 2007-08, involving specialists from 10 countries and 19 universities and research institutes in Romania, European Science Foundation, and Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research in Germany. Within the Third International Symposium of Polar Research 2008, organized by RPRI and the Romanian Academy, pupils described, also by their drawings, their understanding of the effects of global warming and possible remedies. These dissemination and outreach activities produced volumes of abstracts, conferences at the Romanian Academy, Romanian Research and Education Agency, universities in Romania and abroad, as well as events at libraries and schools in Romania, radio and TV broadcasts on IPY, Polar Week and Polar Day, papers, information on websites, video clips on You Tube, and a book by Dr. Teodor Gh.
