- Technician/Field Assistant
Asiaq - Greenland Survey is looking for a colleague in electronics and IT
You will play a leading role in the operation and development of our climate and hydrology monitoring stations in Greenland, carrying out fieldwork in places few people have experienced.
You will be part of the Hydrology, Climate and Environment Department, which includes technicians, academics and researchers. The department’s primary task is collection of climate, hydrology, and environmental data via a network of automatic weather and hydrology stations, and to make these available to customers, stakeholders and the public. We are focused on data quality, and your efforts are important.
You will work with the operation and maintenance of the monitoring stations for example, data loggers, sensors, communications, solar panels, wind turbines and other electronic components. Practical metalwork skills are an advantage as you will also work with maintaining the station infrastructure such as the masts, booms, logger cabinets etc. An important part of your work will be to update the technical documentation of the installations.
Your background is electronics technician or IT technology, but other engineering backgrounds may also be relevant.
You enjoy working in a team with collaboration and communication across professional boundaries. You are in good physical shape and are comfortable with field work tasks, such as changing sensors on a 10m mast. Safety in the working environment is something you prioritize for yourself and your colleagues.
It is an advantage if you speak Greenlandic. You must be able to communicate in English verbally and in writing, as Asiaq has a large interface to English-speaking partners and suppliers.
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel, resign and move household goods will be in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant union. Staff accommodation is not assigned with the position.
