Research Faculty Position in Glaciology
Fairbanks, Alaska, USA
University of Alaska Fairbanks
  • Faculty/Lecturer
The Geophysical Institute Snow, Ice, & Permafrost Group at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, a world-leading institution for polar and glacier research, is seeking a new faculty member to join the Glacier’s Group.

The Glacier’s Group at UAF’s Geophysical Institute carries out a wide range of research related to glaciers and ice sheets in the Earth system, including multidisciplinary collaborations. The University of Alaska hosts a broad research enterprise spread across several institutes that provides many opportunities for cutting edge research along with collaboration with polar geodesy, seismology, and oceanography researchers.
The successful candidate will be an active member of our team and is expected to pursue a vigorous, externally funded research program that expands the glacier research capabilities of the University. Research may incorporate field observations, remote sensing, theoretical and model-based methods, and can be boundary crossing to encompass other disciplines. A breadth of expertise including the ability to interact with researchers outside of the glacier and ice sheet community is essential. Responsibilities will include recruiting and mentoring graduate students.

The hire will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, depending on experience. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a strong research record and prospects for future funding and research success.

Applications will be reviewed beginning April 24, 2022, and the position will remain open until filled. Inquiries about the position should be directed to the Search Committee Chair, Dr. Andy Aschwanden (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

As a public, regional, comprehensive university, UAF is committed to building a culturally diverse and inclusive organization and strongly encourages women, minorities, individuals with disabilities, and veterans to apply.
