We are seeking an MS student to synthesize marine and terrestrial evidence to explore the timing and extent of Arctic Ocean glaciation during the mid- to late-Pleistocene in the Beaufort Chukchi region and Canada basin through the development of a geologic evidence database (GEDB).

Funding is available for two years (with potential to extend to three with a teaching assistantship). The deadline for submission is May 15th, 2023.

The successful candidate will analyze a range of existing data sets, from marine surveys, marine sediment cores, and terrestrial records, to map evidence of paleo-glacial activity in the Beaufort-Chukchi region and Canada Basin. Additionally, they will incorporate digitized features and their relative ages into a geologic evidence database using ESRI ArcMap. 

Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in geoscience or marine geology with some experience in Quaternary geology and glaciology. Good computational skills and experience with ArcGIS (database management a plus) are also required. There will likely be potential to participate in research cruises to obtain first-hand experience with marine survey data collection.
