Cambridge, UK
British Antarctic Survey
  • Postdoctoral Researcher
2023-05-24

The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) is seeking to appoint a post-doctoral researcher to join our Ice Dynamics and Palaeoclimate Team. This position will form part of a NERC-funded scientific project investigating iceberg calving and fracture growth in ice shelves (RIFT-TIP: Rates of Ice Fracture and Timing of Tabular Iceberg Production). The RIFT-TIP team will work primarily out of Halley VI Research Station, Antarctica, using seismic, radar, ApRES and GPS data to investigate the evolution of cracks on the Brunt Ice Shelf. The project will drill shallow ice cores and acquire samples for testing in Cambridge and at the UCL rock and ice physics labs in order to observe variation in physical properties of the ice, including fracture toughness.

This is a fixed term appointment of 32 months. More details and application instructions can be found on the BAS website:

The closing date for applications is 24th May 2023.
