the German Alpine Club (DAV) is hiring for an exciting 3-year project position to coordinate and manage our partner role in the EU Interreg Alpine Space Project:
“AlpFuturePaths – Preserving Alpine Trails and Huts in a Changing Climate”
The project develops climate adaptation strategies for Alpine huts and trails by combining hazard assessment, nature-based solutions, and digital planning tools. AlpFuturePaths is a new Interreg Alpine Space project coordinated by the Technical University of Munich (Prof. Krautblatter) and involving 12 partners (among others EURAC, 3D Reality Maps, Georesarch mbH, Alpine Clubs Austra, Italy, Slovenia and Switzerland) from five Alpine countries
The DAV is crucial partner and responsible for the practical implementation, stakeholder engagement, knowledge transfer, and the development of a 3D planning tool together with international partners.
We are looking for a motivated scientist with
- a background in physical geography, geosciences, environmental sciences or related fields; ideally with a profound understanding of the ongoing processes related to climate change, permafrost and natural hazards,
- GIS knowledge,
- strong project management skills to coordinate and lead a work package in an international project with 12 partners across the Alps
- experience in stakeholder management and participative processes
- German speaking and excellent English communication
The position is based in Munich, Germany (full-time, 36 months, starting September 2026).
