We are currently working on a manual to study debris-covered glaciers to be published as part of the IACS working group. To realise that we hope to get as much input as possible from the wider community by generating some of the content from a panel discussion with experts in specific topics. We also hope to get input from you as an audience, be it questions, comments or anecdotes. Please see the flyer here for an overview of the debris manual.
We have now organised a date for our second panel – on meteorology over debris-covered glaciers! In this discussion we will focus on the field aspects of measuring near-surface meteorology and boundary layer properties over debris-covered glaciers, including its spatial variation.
It will take place next week on Tuesday the 3rd of May at 17:00 UTC.
We have four exciting speakers for you this time including:
- Lindsey Nicholson (University of Innsbruck, Innsbruck)
- Ben Brock (Northumbria University, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne)
- Heather Purdie (University of Canterbury, Christchurch)
- Thomas Shaw (WSL, Birmensdorf)
We encourage you all to bring questions and engage during the panels, which eventually is intended to benefit the research community of today and tomorrow.
