Polar and Alpine Events Calendar
To Friday 21 June 2019
Following the successful launch of ICESat-2, the Polar Science Center at the University of Washington in collaboration with the eScience Institute and NASA will be hosting a weeklong "Hackweek" to help jumpstart Cryospheric Science with ICESat-2 (CSI). The CSI-Hackweek will bring together experts from the ICESat-2 science team, data providers, and data science experts, with researchers who want hands on experience with using and manipulating geophysical data from ICESat-2. CSI-Hackweek participants will learn about ICESat-2 fundamentals, data formats, tools, and how to get to results quickly. Introductory lectures will be combined with open data exploration, tool development, sample research applications, and community building.
As preparation for the workshop, we are also offering a 2-day Software Carpentry Workshop on February 7,8, 2019 on the UW Campus.
