Heidi is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in glaciology at the University of St Andrews, Scotland. In 2015 she was awarded her PhD by the University of Oslo, although she spent the four years of her thesis living and working on the archipelago of Svalbard, in the Norwegian Arctic. Before focusing on glaciology, her studies in geography and geology would take her to Annecy (France) and Aberystwyth (Wales, UK). In addition to being involved in a multitude of field campaigns in Svalbard for the project CRIOS and her work on surging glaciers, Heidi has also participated to expeditions in Greenland (GAP project), Nepalese Himalayas, Alaska, Iceland and Antarctica (MIDAS project). Although fieldwrok is her one true passion, her work combines statistics, GIS and remote sensing techniques and (soon!) modelling to better understand glacier dynamics.

alternative careers in polar/cryospheric issues), research skills, data
management and occasional research-specific discussions/questions. - Participation in live online discussions
This will be advertised to all APECS members and will be facilitated by an
APECS Council or Executive Committee Member. Transcripts will be
posted online for future reference. - Helping to improve presentation and communication skills
