Ioannis Baziotis born in 1980, and graduated from the Geology department of National & Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2002. He received his PhD from the National Technical University of Athens in 2008. In 2012, under the supervision of the distinguished professor Larry Taylor, published in Nature Communications about the shock metamorphism of Mars for the most important martian meteorite the last 50 years, Tissint. In 2014, appointed as lecturer in Mineralogy-Petrology at the AUA, and in 2016, promoted at the assistant professor level.
Baziotis collaborations are mostly International, including collaborators from Caltech, NASA, USC (USA), NHM-Austria, OU-UK, etc. He has > 40 papers published in highly profile International Journals and >100 abstract in International Congresses. He reviews for important Journals and he is external reviewer for NPP NASA. Finally, he is the only Greek who participated, in the highly prestigious mission, Antarctic Search for Meteorites (ANSMET).
