She was formed as a microbial ecologist studying the role of marine heterotrophic flagellates by empirical (Vaqué et al. 1994) and experimental approaches (Vaqué et al. 2001), and soon became interested in marine viruses (Guixa-Boixereu et al. 1999; Guixa-Boixereu et al. 2002). She is working in Polar (Antarctc and Arctic) as well as in other marine system. In the present she is interested in comparing the impact of viruses and flagellates on bacterial mortality (Boras et al. 2009, 2010), and, aims to isolate and identify virus infecting marine microorganisms, viral diversity and the host range specificity. She likes music, books and nature, overall the beauty provided for the Antarctic and Arctic regions.
