The project introduces the systematization of the material collected by the artist Mireya Mas and the biologist Mercedes Mas during a two month field work in Antarctica. The exhibition combines the scientific method and the plastic research through video projections and photography. Specifically, Mireya has worked with the perception of change on icebergs and with diatom images from electronic microscopy of samples collected by both of them. Accompanying the exhibition, it will be published a book. The book consists of Mireya's material and several texts written by scientists. In the first part, Mireya reflects some experiences during the Antarctic expedition and raises questions to scientists (visibility and peculiar perception in Antarctica, movement of icebergs, satellite data etc). The second part focuses on diatoms and offers different views from these organisms (ecology, nanotechnology and architecture). Along the exhibition, several activities are programmed, such as a Symposium in Arts Santa Monica with all the participants of the book and activities with scholar groups were scientists develop workshops.
